MICHAEL LLOYD

Referred to as a boy genius at the start of his career Michael Lloyd has certainly proven that right.  In the past 40 years the prolific and talented record producer has accumulated in excess of 100 gold and platinum records - well over 72 albums and 34 singles.
 
Lloyd’s records, ranging from Pop & Rock to Country & Jazz, R&B & Gospel, have been recognized by such organizations as the Grammys, the American Music Awards, the Academy Awards, the Dove Awards (the Christian Music equivalent of the Grammy), NARM
(the National Association of Record Mer–chants) and The Golden Globe Awards.  He is featured in Who's Who in America, in California & in Entertainment.  His chart records span five decades, from the 60’s to the present.
 
Additionally, Lloyd has provided scoring/music supervision/song writing, song placement and/or music producing for over 85 motion pictures, 11 TV movies, 12 television specials & 30 television series.

As well as being the music supervisor for the motion picture, and the Dirty Dancing album (which established itself as the all time best selling multi-artist soundtrack), Michael produced the blockbuster hits "I've Had The Time Of My Life" for Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes; "Yes" by Merry Clayton and "She's Like The Wind" by Patrick Swayze.  Additionally, Michael composed and produced the Latin dance music.  Some of the recent motion pictures he’s involved in are Coyote Ugly  (American Music Award nominee and triple platinum award),  View From the Top, Half Past Dead, Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever, Angel Eyes, Hairy Tale and City by the Sea .
 
Michael was taking classical piano at the age of four.   At approximately twelve years of age, he started his own band.  And by the time he was 13, he began receiving instruction in musical theory and harmony and the technique of scoring motion pictures. It was at this time he met Mike Curb, which began a long and fruitful friendship and busi–ness association that continues today.  Michael has had this to say about Mike, “I never would have had these opportunities if it hadn’t been for Mike. He believed in me unconditionally—and is the reason I’ve had a chance for success.”  Curb put Lloyd to work scoring motion pictures, and a few years later, when Curb became president of MGM Records, he brought Lloyd, then 20 years old, in as vice president of A & R.
 
At MGM Records, Lloyd signed Lou Rawls, which proved to generate Lloyd’s first major hit - "A Natural Man." Some of the artists Lloyd has worked with over the years in–clude Barry Manilow, Belinda Carlisle,  Dionne Warwick,  Steve Holy, Tamara Walker, Bill Medley, Benny Mardones, Stryper, Jennifer Warnes, The Righteous Brothers, The Monkees, Shaun Cassidy, Eric Carman, The Bellamy Brothers, The Burrito Brothers, The New Seekers, Sammy Davis Jr., Air Supply,  Carmen, The Osmonds, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Bill Medley,  Tamara Walker, The Pointer Sisters, Leif Garrett, Susie Alllanson, Brush Arbor, Donny & Marie, Maureen McGovern, Roger Williams, Merry Clayton, Debby Boone,  and Frank Sinatra,  perform–ing a special  version of Silent Night .
 
Lloyd’s work in the studio continues with motion pictures A Life’s Work, The Diff’rent Strokes movie, Mork and Mindy—Behind The Scenes, Fighting The Odds, Black Dawn, Pop Star, Over Easy, the Dirty Dancing musical (debuting in Australia), Rocky, the Musical (for Sylvester Stallone), Faye Dunaway’s recent series, The Starlet, new motion pictures, Out of Reach, Mini’s First Time, Chaos, film projects for legendary producer/writer Steven Cannel; recordings from artists, deSoL, Steve Holy, Presence, Kimberley Locke, Michael English and Frankie Jordan.
